Fees & FAQs
Answers to common questions.
Referrals, fees and rebates
-
No referral is required for private psychology sessions.
If you'd like to access Medicare rebates, you'll generally need an eligible referral from your GP or another authorised referring practitioner under the relevant Medicare arrangements. It’s best to discuss your circumstances with your GP before commencing treatment.
-
Kelly's fee is $230 for a 50-minute session.
Eligible clients with an appropriate referral may be able to claim a Medicare rebate up to $101.55 per eligible session, subject to Medicare requirements.
Private health insurance may also provide rebates, depending on your level of cover and policy.
Any difference between the session fee and the rebate (‘gap fee’) is the client's responsibility.
-
From 1 January 2026, clients pay the session fee directly and claim any eligible Medicare rebate themselves.
If you have questions about fees or rebates, please get in touch before your appointment.
-
Kelly also sees eligible clients through TAC, WorkCover and FAS arrangements. Eligibility, referrals and payment arrangements may vary, so please enquire to discuss your circumstances.
Starting therapy
-
Not at all. You don't need to be in crisis or have a diagnosed mental health condition to seek support.
People come to therapy for many reasons, including career changes, parenting, stress, relationships, grief, life transitions, and a desire to understand themselves better.
-
Finding the right psychologist is an important part of the process. It's worth considering their experience, approach, and whether you feel comfortable talking with them.
You don't have to know everything before getting in touch. An enquiry is a good place to start, and your first session can help you decide whether the approach feels right for you.
-
Sessions are a chance to talk about what's happening in your life, explore your concerns, and work towards the changes or understanding you're looking for.
There's no expectation that you'll arrive with everything neatly explained. We'll work through things together, at a pace that feels manageable.
You can ask questions, share what feels comfortable, and help shape the direction of our work.
-
This depends on your circumstances and what you're hoping to achieve. Some people benefit from a small number of sessions, while others prefer support over weeks or months, or occasional check-ins.
We'll work together to understand your needs and review what's helpful as we go. You can discuss your preferences and goals throughout the process.
-
Online sessions can be a convenient way to access psychological support without travelling to an appointment. They allow you to meet from a private space that suits you and make it easier to access support if you live outside Kelly's local area.
Whether online sessions are suitable depends on your individual circumstances, preferences, and support needs. We can discuss this when you enquire.
