Therapy Approaches
A tailored approach that works for you
There's no single approach that works for everyone. My work draws on a range of psychological approaches, guided by your needs and experiences and what we're working towards together.
Humanistic psychology
Humanistic psychology focuses on you as a whole person, including your experiences, values, strengths and potential for growth.
It recognises the importance of feeling heard and understood, and of having a supportive therapeutic relationship in which you can explore what matters to you.
Rather than assuming there's a single right way forward, this approach places importance on your own perspective, experiences and capacity for change.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT explores the connections between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
The way we interpret a situation can influence how we feel and what we do in response. By recognising patterns that may be keeping us stuck, we can begin to develop different ways of thinking and responding. This can help make difficult situations feel more manageable and support changes in everyday life.

Mindfulness-based approaches
Mindfulness involves paying attention to the present moment with curiosity and without judgement.
As a practice, mindfulness can help us become more aware of our thoughts, feelings and physical sensations, rather than automatically reacting to them.
Mindfulness-based approaches can support people experiencing stress, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. They may also help us develop a different relationship with difficult emotions and experiences.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a structured psychological therapy often used to help people process distressing memories and experiences, particularly those associated with trauma and PTSD.
It aims to reduce the distress associated with these memories and help them feel less overwhelming. EMDR involves a structured therapeutic process and is undertaken with a trained practitioner.

Working together
These approaches can be used in different ways depending on what brings you to therapy. We'll consider your experiences, needs and goals when deciding how to approach our work together.
You don't need to know which approach is right for you before getting started. That's something we can explore together.
